I have set up a XOOPS website and forum for use by my local car club. I would like to add some more functionality and hope that members here can advice on how to best accomplish the following tasks:

#1 I want to make additions to the registration screen - I would like users to specify what car - make, model, year - that they have, their real first name and city.

#2 I would like the user profile to have space where users may list upgrades made to their cars, maybe post a picture - this should come up with their user profile.

#3 I would like to set up a galery that would be publically viewable (by anyone that goes to the site) but that would be restricted to only registered members posting there. We would use this space to post pics of meetings, etc. Ideally, I would like to have control over how big the files would be. Ability to do short films would be a nice bonus too.

How about it guys? How do I get this done?

You can hack the registration form and user profile page to list pretty much anything you want. The following F.A.Q. entry give a few good links on this.

Using a module like MyAlbumn-P, you can easily create a powerful gallery of pictures of member's rides.

I'm not sure about the video part, but I believe that can be accomplished too, but you'll have to do a little Research to be sure.

Hope that helps.

Well, the FAQ is VERY messy on this topic, but after going through it for an hour, I found 2 items. #1, how to add "Real Name" to the registration form and #2 how to replace items like AOL and ICQ numbers with other fields under the user profile. Nither of these address my issue.

I would like to add more custom-defined fields to the registration screen. How is this done? I want users upon registration to fill in year, make, model of their car, the city they are in and have a few large fields to list upgrades, etc. This seems very hard, which means that I am not doing something right...

I'm very much a newbie here but I've been using the extended profiles module. I'm using the newest version of XOOPS. Perhaps this thread will help?

You can also use the new "UserPage" module, which will give your users the option of creating their own "page" inside of your website.

Think myspace but for XOOPS.... XOOPSpace i guess.

So your users can implement their vehicle specs into their custom pages.

Make
Model
Year
Customizations
VIN for Verification

and they can make the page look however they want... pretty pimp.

Yep saw that module a couple of days ago.
And trying to implent it in my site.
For now this is done via the profile page which i hacked with the profile page hack by Monty.
And can be edited by the user it self
Thats the reason why i posted here to act as an example...
