Hi All,

Trying to install XOOPS 2.0
Running on Win2kServer
Apache 2.0
mySQL 4
PHP 5

After the "confirm database settings" I am getting a blank screen. HELP!

I have created a database in SQL with same user and pw as I am feeding xoops.

I looked over previous topics and people say that you have to have a link installed for PHP and SQL to talk with one another? Found instructions for Linux, nothing for Windows. Help me.

Ty

FAQ seems to apply to blank pages AFTER the install - this thing can do that AFTER the install?? Seems buggy. Read all though the FAQ where it tells me to turn this on or turn that on via admin pannel - I have no admin pannel! The thing wont install!

I wanted to use XOOPS to run a Forum and poll system, but it seems like a headache. PHPbb installed with no problems.

I would still like to try XOOPS out, but I am having doubts on whether it is a solid product and whether I can get any support when it tanks like this.

Granted I undestand why you would be upset... but a community of users swear by this cms... Just because you are having issues does not reflect upon the product...

Support is here for you, you just need to learn to explain your problem

Wont install is a terrible explanation..

Contact your host and ask if there are any problems server side.

XOOPS is a huge cms, and I know that I can install the current package through fantastico with ease... not that i reccomend it, but atleast I an ebsured that my host supports the project.

Perhaps pointing fingers and blaming a cms that is obviously stable enough to support a community of this size is anything but intelligent

Perhaps you somehow managed to get a corrupted file. Try redownloading it.

Good Luck

I am the host, but unfortunately I do not know too much about all this stuff. I have been running an Apache server for a while, by mySQL and PHP are a bit new to me.

I will re-download like you said and probably go to php4 instad of 5 as I am reading it has fewer issues.

Far as what's happening, durring the installation after the "confirm database settings" I click Next and get a blank screen - thats it.

Double check to make sure that the user you have setup to connect to the database is granted "all" database privileges.

Am I just retarded? I decided to use IIS instad of Apache as there seems to be better PHP support and people seem to have had luck with it. After much heache of Apache fighting IIS, etc, I got it all to work.

Re-installed PHP4 (with mySQL support)
Re-installed mySQL 4
Created a database called fubar via the command line utility
added "extension=msql.so" into my php.ini

Went to set up XOOPS with a big grin on my face and now at the bottom I get,

PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library './mysql.so' - The specified module could not be found. in Unknown on line 0

WTF?!?! I have spent like an hour now looking for what the heck that means with no luck. Is this supposed to be that hard? My Friend set up XOOPS on his box in like 10 minutes a few years ago - what am I doing wrong?

OK, I am retarded.

For the record, the msql.so file is used in Linux loads. Windows guys need to use php_msql.dll

See https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=48242&forum=1&post_id=211720#forumpost211720 for troubleshooting retarded PHP to mySQL problems - this worked great!
