Hope this mail finds you very well. I have now tried the whole day to install Xoops. 2 x the files, the sql, and still have the same result. On index.php white screen and nothing for admin either.

Turn on debug:
To switch on debug, go to system admin-->preferences and then general settings. You will see a "Debug mode" field.

Where do I find this Debug ... have tried through the browser, on the server to no avail. Sorry, just don't get it.

Thank you for your quick reply. Somehow I found a way to turn on debug 'error_reporting(E_ALL);' in common.php, and this is the result ...

Also several odd files in the templates_c folder, should that be?

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /home/mysite/templates_c/%%22^222^222153D0%%db%3Asystem_block_user.html.php on line 18

Any ideas perhaps what causes this?

delete the template_c files except for the index.html, that might work.
