hhttp://www.freewebs.com/queentiye/index.htm

This is my web site currently - and I would like to recreate it with a CMS. I'm really not unhappy with my existing site, and don't need a whole bunch of new functionality. What I DO need (and mentioned in another thread) is to incorporate an SMF forum into the site, and I DO need to incorporate a logo instead of just something generic from a template, but I am NOT a designer, and will therefore want an easily customizeable template that meets my needs...

Am I asking for too much? Will XOOPS be able to do this for me?

Hi and welcome
I suggest you grab a drink and a bit of time and browse your way through the 'Help docs thread'. This is a temprorary location of siting of docs till we get them back up and running...you will see why in the thread. Look for 'visual introduction to xoops' as a starting point. XOOPS uses themes so all you need to do is hunt for a theme you like...then you can make some simple modiifications. My sitejensclassroomhas a theme built by bassman - all I did was make a nice top logo image and put in in place of the one that came with the file.

I also suggest you become familiar with FAQ - but some of the docs refered to are in the find help docs here thread because of broken links.

The other fun thing you can do is 'play' with XOOPS by going to Bluenovas playground

I have seen the anagram SMF before but have no ideas what it stands for so i can't be specific with how XOOPS can fit this criteria.

Hope this helps with your exploration and decision making!
BTW - I am no programmer or web designer and i am pretty happy with what XOOPS gave me!

I found the themes, but a lot of them do not have screenshots, and a lot of the screenshots are too small to be meaningful. Is there somewhere that themes reside so we can look at what they look like?

Also - where is the help thread? I don't seem to be able to find it....

Most of the time, the designer has a theme browser on their website you can view (for their themes). We have MANY designers offering free themes and no one has implemented them in a single viewing program (I don't have the knowledge to do it).

As for the help documents, jensclas' signature has a link for help documentation.

Yes, gestroud, but it doesn't have ALL the themes!

If you browse the threads on themes in the forum you will find losts of theme designers have answered posts - click on their name and you will be taken to their profile and hopefully their website link will be there. The other way I found themes I liked was to google XOOPS themes....worked a treat!
