Bah, just that quick I figured it out.

Under Administration --> Preferences --> Extended Profiles --> User Settings

Change the variable "Select the level of strictness for username filtering" to "Medium" and now things seem to be working.

I wonder with what version of XOOPS you work.

Effectively, this option allow you to use . in the login name.

That's great

So when you say "syncronization" you mean that we'll be able to use Ad for username and password and it will update when the user changes the password in AD? We experience the problem where a user changes their password in AD and this module still alows them to use both their old and new password.

Excellent work by the way!

No this is not a password synchronisation but a account synchronisation.
When a user authenticate from a LDAP Server, if the user account doesn't exist in the XOOPS database, it will be created automatically with the login and password hit in the login screen.

Password synchronisation is another type of application outside the scope of XOOPS (like PWSYNCH)

The newest one - 2.2.3a? I have run (and still do run) sites with 2.0.13, but I wanted to try the 2.2.3 for this new project I'm working on.

Great, looking forward to it - this really lets me bring XOOPS into my enterprise for my users without them complaining about 'another' username and password to remember.

I'm new to XOOPS and LDAP.
Could anyone shows me what sorts of information for each field?

Cause I can't make it work with my win2003 AD.

will this hack work in XOOPS 2.0.13.2?

i followed the update questions and copied the files over. i updated the system module, and i do not see the options to select authentication options in preferences.

the update.sql produced the following error for me:

Output from uploaded SQL commands ..

ERROR 1062 (23000) at line 1: Duplicate entry '74' for key 1

I'm working actually to a new rewrite version of the authentication system.
It will include a more generic and pluggable authentication system and a synchronisation system.

For the moment, I have no date to give.
