My client needs a setup that will allow only the user and the webmaster to access forum areas. For example, say she has 20 users. There should be an area for each user that only that user and the webmaster can view, post, edit, upload files, etc. The users should not be able to read the other user's messages.

I have XOOPS 2.2.3 and CBB 2.2.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You can't have private areas on forums unless you put each member in there own group. The whole point of forums is that they are read by lots of people. Maybe another module is a better way to go, prehaps a blog module or file manager, depending on your needs. You could also use NewBB 1 which has the option to add indervidual users to private forums.

Thanks for the input.

Some kind of communication center module is what I'm wanting. I need a general info area, like the news or content modules, for everyone to have access to.

Then, I need private info areas, that will allow access only to the admin and the user(s) assigned to that project, with file upload capability. This is the one I'm having a problem finding.

The owner also wants a complete user list, name, phone, email, etc. but that can be pulled from the database, unless there's a module for that, too.

The CBB certain forums to be accessed by certain custom groups. CBB gives full control of permissions with this respect. You would have to manually remove permissions for the registered members group and manually add the permissions for your custom group. Then make sure the users that you want to have access are added to the custom group (also keep them in the registered members group for basic site permissions, just use the custom group for added permissions.)

As for the second part I am sure you will receive some suggestions on some excellent directory modules for the user information storage.
