At the moment, there is not as much need.. but slowly more modules will appear only for 2.2 - and not on 2.0 ...

For example CBB (which has replaced newbb) is on version 1.15 on 2.0 .. but has been recently updated to 2.3 on 2.2 - and has additional features.

You don't need to change immediately - but should bare it in mind for the future.

Will a theme designed for 2.1.13 work on 2.2 ?

Simply put, I make sites using 2.2.3a only. Granted I don't use that large a selection of modules, but simply the quality of the core and functions of it are soooooo much better and important to me to stick with 2.0.x series.

My themes ported fine from 2.0.13 to 2.2.3. Not a problem there.

Cheers.

I also notice that xoops.org isn't running on 2.2.3

Why would I as a user make the switch if XOOPS itself doesn't think its worth making the switch ?

Don't do switch
You'll lost only small set of modules, which doesn't exist for 2.0, namely - WordPress, Docuwiki, Article...

I think your saying,

Do not switch, there aren't enough modules for 2.2.3

lol yup, LB has a way with words don't ya think..

it's upto you if you want to switch.. more and more modules are being made to work with 2.2.3, but you should not update without testing on a test install whether the modules you use work fully 1st..

whilst 2.2.3 has many improvements and features, there's no rush to update if you don't really need those extras as yet..

if it aint broke, don't fix it is a common saying amongst web sites.. with the exception of security fixes..
