Funny! There was question from Marcan regarding the osCommerce-module from UXMichael, but suddenly the file disappeared so I had no chance to answer.

Anything wrong with the module?

Hi Frankblack,

That module was not approved for the repository, as it was an RC, but somehow it slipped through. Marcan and the author have both been informed of the situation. I have suggested to the author to add the module to dev.xoops.org and to post a news article on http://www.xoops.org so people can test it.

So I must be glad that my neverending debaser-beta was never kicked out of the repository? LOL

No, now serious speaking: Why not adding a Beta/RC-section to the repository? I guess for the novice-xoopser the repository here will be the first place to look for modules and not the not-well-known (for novice-xoopser) dev.xoops.org?!

Re: Vanishing downloads on xoops.org?

Hi Frankblack,

It was always said that only Final well tested modules should be available from the main XOOPS site, but only recently (6 months or so) has that been really enforced. Debaser (amongst others) were added before we decided this really needs to be enforced, and we decided at the time that all existing beta's and RC's that were already in the repository should stay. EDIT: We did clear out a lot of modules at the time that simply did not work, but those that were working well (such as debaser) were left./
With regards to a repository for beta's and rc's, it's an interesting idea, why not start a topic in feedback and suggestions. Personally I think making the dev.xoops.org more known to newbie's rather than the 'module dev forge' link, which I expect gets overlooked a lot. But I think this can be achieved by posting Beta and RC releases to the Module news section here on http://www.xoops.org with a link to the modules dev page.
