I too had/have this problem. After installing myReferers module, I was able to track it down to the search engine bots. The msnbot and googlebot were the ones killing my site.

There isn't anything that can be done if you want your sight to be indexed. If you don't care, then edit the robots.txt file to not allow them.

I can see the site fine. It might just be a problem with the DNS of your isp.

Hi Chattobrian

I have just checked your DNS ...and something is wrong...

Are you running your own server and have you made your own DNS configuration ?

I get several warnings ind your DNS configuration

DNS Check

WARN Glue at parent nameservers
WARNING. The parent servers (I checked with ns-ext.isc.org.) are not providing glue for all your nameservers. This means that they are supplying the NS records (host.example.com), but not supplying the A records (192.0.2.53), which can cause slightly slower connections, and may cause incompatibilities with some non-RFC-compliant programs. This is perfectly acceptable behavior per the RFCs. This will usually occur if your DNS servers are not in the same TLD as your domain (for example, a DNS server of "ns1.example.org" for the domain "example.com"). In this case, you can speed up the connections slightly by having NS records that are in the same TLD as your domain.

WARNING: We cannot test to see if your nameservers are all on the same Class C (technically, /24) range, because the root servers are not sending glue.

Thanks Grizzlydk,

I'm not running my own server but get hosted by Lycos Netherlands.
I made a copy of your posting and send it to the technical people there and now I hope they can do something about that.

Stuppid thing is that some of my visitors don't have any problems at all, and others can't get to my site, however hard they try...

Thanks a lot, you all...
Brian
