I'm trying to give admin rights to another user but even if it tells me that the profile is updated nothing appens...
What can I do? Is it possible to modify the rights directly in the database? Where?

Go to:
admin/groups=> click the group you want to put him/her in....... then chose from the list of registered user his/hers name and add him/her to this group. That should do it!
