This might be the silliest question ever asked on this forum. At least it seems that, since I couldn't find it posted anywhere, I'm probably the only person who couldn't figure it out. But since I really don't figure it out, I dare asking it anyway:

How do I use the db backup function in XOOPS Protector. In installation instructions, it says something about a protector block one has to activate or setup, yet I don't find any block in the blocks management. Also, the Protector menues I do have don't link to any db backup page.

I should mention I've XOOPS 2.2.3 installed, perhaps the block really doesn't show up? If that is so, is there a way to call the backup directly from URL?

Well, so much. Sorry again if this is a terribly stupid problem.

Edited: So it was worse than me being stupid, not talking about Protector, but about DB backup & restore

I didn't know one could do backups through XOOPS Protector. Perhaps I have an old version. If backups are what you are after then check out Backpack, it seems to do a good job though I've never had to restore anything with it.

I did not know there is a db backup too (and don't think there is ...). There is a tool to change db prefix.

As for the block you have to activate - you don't need that for the last versions and there is no such block. You have only to do precheck and postcheck in mainfile.

Here is changelog:

2.40RC (2005/3/31)
- modified URI of attacking simulation in advisory (thx satanas)
- modified checking *check.inc.php included in advisory (thx peter & Dave_L)
- modified password for disabling bad_ips to be encrypted
- eliminate protector block
- modified only GET vars will be checked with "doubtful file spec"
..

Ok, thanks, I guess I've been having a hard night. Of course, I've not been talking about Protector, but about DB backup & restore 3.0. I still don't find that module's interface block, but it's pretty obvious how to get there from URL: site root/modules/backup/admin/index.php

Sorry again, not my day, although it's my b-day
