How to go about making a module?

I guess this isn't quite the right place to ask this, but I was hoping someone might be able to point me towards a tutorial for how to get started making a my own module.

Also, if I took an existing module and modified it for my own purpose, would I be obliged to release the changes under the GPL?

Hi,

All the info and support you need is available on dev.xoops.org, where you can also start your module project.

A good place to start is the Dev wiki
