If you are experiencing problems with the Autologin ... I suggest you post about it on GIJOE's site.

None of my members have mentioned a problem using it ... yet.

I've attempted to install the hack according to the instructions, however I cannot edit the mainfile.php. However I open it for editing (either with ftp or web based file manager from cpanel), edit and save it, it never actually saves changes. That happened before. mainfile.php seems to be resiliant to editing, or it constantly overwrites all changes.

What's up with that? How can I get to edit and save the changes?

Most likely because of this, my autologin hack doesn't work.

Thanks
Daniel

Mainfile.php is set to 444 to prevent changes --either malicious or accidental.

You will need to CHMOD it to 777 before you can edit it.

Yeah, Dave_L told me that. I have changed permissions to 644 which was enough to edit it, and then changed back to 444. However, autologin hack still doesn't seem to work..

I just verified all the changes I had to make and it's all there. It just doesn't work. I still come back after a while and I have to login back myself.

I wonder what it is..

I'll try the 2.2 hack on an experimental site I have running to see if it works for me.

I will let you know how it went.

I applied the hack. Works with no problem.

Interesting, though. The autologin check box is already in the login block in the template but is commented out. It also doesn't have the text "remember me" or whatever you might want.

So, I uploaded the two new files as instructed. Then I edited the entry in mainfile.php. And finally, I edited the block template from within the administration template editing area to un-comment out the remember check box. I then saved the new template.

Remember that you will need to clone your template since you can't edit the default template, then you will have to make the new template your default template from the system admin area.

I got the autologin hack working with 2.2. However, I don't use the login block, but rather a link to user.php which brings up a login screen if the user is not logged in.

Does anyone know how to include the remember me checkbox in this screen? http://www.anandamarga.org.uk

In your Admin area
1) go to [Misc. Tools] - [Templates]
2) make sure you have already cloned another template set
since the default template set can't be changed. (If you
really want to change, go to your DB and change table
tpl_source - Field [tpl_source], Field [tpl_id] 4)
3) If you got the cloned template, then modilfy [system] -
[system_userform.html] as the following
<{$lang_password}>

remember me

4) After submiting the above change, go to [Preferences] -
[system] - [General settings] and change
[Default template set] to whatever you have just cloned
and modified.

-----------------
Tip: After logout from your Admin, go to
http://www.anandamarga.org.uk/user.php. If you did not
see the change, just go ahead to delete all the temp
files in your "templates_c" folder, which is under your
XOOPS Root directory.
