I really think your going to have to add this function to the theme of your site.....

see if this is what you're trying to do....

http://www.imp96ss.com - look at the grey bricks running under the banner/logo at the top. Then log in as Guest (password: guest) and it will display the welcome message.

Get the code by right clicking and saving target of this link;

http://www.imp96ss.com/themes/nitelite/theme.html

good luck with it tony!

adrock -
cant thank you enough - my last question on this is did you edit the file from the XOOPS backend or through dreamweaver or a program like that? I dontn like the xoop backend because I don't know what half of the pages are refering to. I am unsure which way to go through. Thanks again.

Tony

I usually edit my theme file in wordpad.

Anything else that needs to be edited for 'looks', is done with the template editor from the admin area.

Anything else, like editing the actual php files is considered a 'hack'...something I do rarely if at all.

here's a link to a good resource for dreamweaver, if you are more comfortable using that to edit your theme....

https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2358

What theme are you using?

I use the if/else statement in many sites for many reasons, and have never had to alter any back end stuff to get it to work.

Let me know what theme you are using, or send me a copy of yours, and I'll be more than happy to look into it for you.

remember:
your theme is located here:
http://www.yourdomain.xxx/themes/name of theme/theme.html

- you must throw away allhttp://www.yourdomain.xxx/templates_c/*
files before you will see the changes you have made, or set XOOPS to check for new versions in the admin--->systems--->prefs--->general settings area.

let me know how it goes....
