Hello,

I've got I little problem. Today I have updated my newsmodule to 1.3.1. Everything went fine upgrading it. The only thing that happens at the moment is when I want to see the singlepost like this I get a blank screen. I can't find what the problem is. Can you people help me solving the problem.

Here is the upgrade.txt file:

*******************************************************************************
**
UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS                           **
*******************************************************************************
Here is the list of actions you will have to do to upgrade from any previous
version
:

[
b]1Upload all files in this packageoverwriting the existing files.
2Update the module in system admin -> modules
3
Launch the following script at least one time :

http://www.example.com/modules/news/admin/upgrade.php

To be able to launch itYOU MUST BE AN ADMIN OF THE NEWS MODULE
Once this script has been launched
you can remove it but it's not "vital"
4) If you are using a personalized template set (if you have cloned it for
   example) :
Go in admin -> templates. Find the templates set you are using, beside the
name "News" click on the link named "[List (11)]". Find the template called
"news_index.html" then press the link named "[Delete]". In the next screen,
when you see this question "Are you sure that you want to delete this template data?"
validate by pressing "Yes". The previous screen will reappears and you will see
a yellow line, click on the link named "[Generate]"

5) If you are using the default template set. First create some test news then
go on the part of your website where your users can see the news (for example
http://www.example.com/modules/news). If you can see the test news, come back
to the admin part of your site. Go in the news module'
s preferences and for

the option named "News Display Layout" select "By topic"Come back to the
   visible part of your website
(http://www.example.com/modules/news).

If you can see your newsignore the rest of this point, else, if you
   can
't see the news then, in admin -> templates, beside the default template
set, click on the link named "Clone", give it a name then go in
admin -> preferences, select "General Settings" and in the scrolling list
called "Default template set", select the template you have previously
   cloned.

If you are doing a fresh install, you don'
t have to do anything from the previous
list.

Can't see a delete link. When I create the link myself I can delete it butt when I press the button I see this text:

Quote:
Default template files cannot be deleted.

The first steps was what I have done earlyer this day. Upload the files, update the module, and I've launced the script.

Hey there.

You need to clone the default template.

Once you have cloned the default template (you should see a link to do this in the template manager) go to system >> preferences >> general and change the template to the name of your cloned template.

Then you can modify, generate and delete templates to your hearts desire.

So, try cloning the default template set and then change to that template set and then try to generate the template as per the instructions.

Hopefully that will do it for you.

It's stay's blank. Don't get it. I've repeated the steps a couple of times butt it still doesn't work. Don't want to downgrade again. The module has nice new features.

Re: Blank pages with News module 1.3.1

I've uploaded the news module again. Repeated all the steps and turned on the php debug thingy. When I go to the singlepost I get an error.

Quote:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/dis000271/domains/babealicious.nl/public_html/modules/news/include/functions.php on line 302

Could this be the problem? If it could, how can I fix it?

Someone else got a similar problem, be sure to remove ALL the files from the module's folder then re upload the file.

Removed all the files from the module's folder. Re uploaded them. Repeated the steps from the upgrade.txt file and still the problem exists. Isn't there another solution because this is giving me a headacke.
