Not so much a module request but a query about whether a module or nay part of XOOPS exists to do this! It's an unusal one!

I'm creating a site for a non-proft based organisation. The organisation has members. The members themselves are not individual though. They are entire organisations\companies as opposed to individuals. Each member (organisation) pays an annual subscription. For example, lets say Ford Cars was one of my organisations' members. Ford Cars would be £100 per year for the membership, and all of its employees would then be entitled to use the subscription services.

The username for that member (organisation) would be 'FordCars' and it would have a password. Then each and every employee of Ford Cars would use that username and password to access the site. No problems there (other than the security issue but don't worry about that)

My problem arises because the leader of the volunteer organisation for whom the site is being created wants to be able to see (i.e. search and list) not only the members, but the people belonging to that membership. So for example, he'd want to see a list like this :



As we know, XOOPS allows registration of an individual with an individual password. But once it's been used once, it can't be used again.

So my question is :

Is there a way round this ? Can XOOPS do this?

I think a module would be the best way to manage this. The module would be some kind of membership module with groups functionality to add users to membership groups.

Two approaches come to mind:

1) Use organisation login and let the organisation maintain a contact person listing

2) Do not use organisation for login, but personal logins. Group users by organisation.

Question is not so much can XOOPS do this, but more can you do this.

Edit: And yes, certainly a module. No need for hacking the core.

True, if you would want to handle a lot of things yourself, like account assignment to groups et cetera, you do not need a module for it. It would just require a lot of manual actions.

Eh? I agree with you - use a module. Where did the "manual actions" come from?

Well, initially I was planning on using the new Membership module for this. It has super grouping and permissioning systems.

To follow on from you Mith, I guess in theory I could register each individual of each organisation (so for example, 50 people from Ford Cars), then create a group called FordCars, and add those 50 individuals to that group.

That way, the leader of the organisation could either query the number of individuals per group, the number of groups, or everything.

The trouble here is the shear voume of groups that I'll be dealing with. There are hundreds potentially, and growing weekly. I'd like to have each organisation (member) keep track of their individuals and just have the organisation registered on the site, but I think the leader wants to use the site as a means of doing searches etc....a way of managing the membership.
