I use Narga's guestbook module and from few week someone have started to sent some spam messages. There is an automatic method to prevent this messages? in example in my case the sender is ever the same or at least have the same e-mail.

Thanks

Is there a way to tell what the ip address is? If so you can always block the ip.

And a little bit "more drastic" solution could be to grants the mod just to registered members too.
Not so good, is true

uhm.... a guestbook only for registered users? from my point of view not make sense a registered have already leave a sign

the IP is not always the same, but is the same the e-mail address given for contact.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this issue? I am getting all kinds of spam in my guest book. If there is not a solution to Narga's guest book, can someone recommend another guestbook module which is not getting spammed?

Thanks,
Sean

I was getting the same untill I had to disable the guest book module.

The best option is to disable posting for anonymous users, as was suggested by davidl2.

I don't know how much spam is added by robots and how much by humans, but I have seen some guestbooks that have been hit really hard.

A protection against the robots is to use a visual security code (the random number sequence presented as an image that you have to read and enter to make a post). I don't know about a guestbook, but I believe there is a login mod that uses this technique?

If you want to allow anonymous comments (which I agree is the idea of a guestbook) cleaning out the guestbook just has to become a regular admin task.
A thread is for life. Not just for Christmas.

The next version of XF Guestbook will use this solution.
You can see and test here
I have still some bugs to correct and I need assistance for translated some defines into English (a volunteer ?)
