Re: Subscription Service Comming

I would add one option

3) Get together with others, who will chip in, and don't start work until the finances are pledged

Agreed. It's fine to get with other people who are willing to eat the cost, but I just think that in an open source community "expecting" to get "re-paid" for your contributions isn't right.

People "should" donate because it's the right thing to do and it will benefit them if they do, but they shouldn't be "expected" to donate.

I have my site. I pay for our comms server, gaming server, distro server, web server, etc. I have the donate module, but I don't "expect" to get re-paid for my contribution. I get a sense of satisfaction just knowing that I'm helping someone else.

Hey all, sorry i haven't kept you updated. The project is coming along, slowly but its getting there.

This is not a business deal of anykind by the way and i dont mean to presurise anyone into donating. I'm simply saying that it would be nice to recover some of the contribution i have made to this project. I of course will be using this script myself. That is the main reason for the creation of this project however i also feel i owe something back to the XOOPS community.

Anyway, i will try to keep everyone more updated with this project.

Many thanks

Good News! I have been talking to the programmer today, it has taken longer that expected but the script should be around by next week. I should have the copy of the sctript on my server by Sunday after the last few bugs are creased out and once it has been tested by me and some other people i will release it on my site.

Will keep you updated!

Hi, sorry about the delay. I recieved the demo this morning. There is one bit that isn't working which is the upgrade subscription part however, you will be able to see a demo by 2200 GMT tonight!

I will post the link here. My programer says that the bug will be fixed shortly. If you find other bugs please do let me know.

Many thanks

Better late than never!

I have the demo site up and running on a temporary server as mine as screwed up! You can view the demo athttp://70.85.145.130/~cuckston/subscription/. The user name is admin and password: demo.

The upgrade subscription part does not work yet, however that is getting fixed. Please take a look and tell me what you think!

Judging from the looks of it, looks like a well laid out, simple to configure module. I think it will serve well sites that need this type of service.

Looking good Cuckston !

A few questions I have (which might be due to it not being complete yet);

1) There doesn't seem to be any edit function for the subscription types or users. Is this still to be added?

2) When adding a user manually, are you planning to implement an interface more like the find users section? If not, does the interface you have do any verification of the user entered against the XOOPS user database so no bogus entries are added?

3) With the add subscription section, would it be a good idea to have a non expiring option as well as the 1, 3, 6 and 12 month periods?

4) How are admins and subscribed users made aware when their subscription is about to be due?

5) Will it be possible to customise the subscription page from the main menu?

6) Will there be support for alternate payment methods, even if not fully automated or instant (same as aMember)?

7) I seem to get logged out when viewing the subscription section from the main menu. Is this still to be fixed?

8) Is there going to be any kind of sorting and filtering options in the subscription management areas?

hey looks good
any idea what the user side would look like?
maybe this was asked, will it accomodate multible subscription options for diffent products/services for same user?
or even diffent subscription price points for various service.
or does it have to be cloaned?
Iam asking beacuse i do personal/perfessional coaching and i offer different price point for differnt subscription services.
like individual coaching $$
group coaching $
ecourses $ you get the point
