i think you should read the news article related to 2.1 1st!

if you note the (unstable) next to where it says download 2.1

2.0.10 is the last stable release, 2.2 hasn't even been made yet!!

2.1.1 is test development release and changes daily and may work 1 day and not the next.. it clearly states not to use it on production websites..

I think the 2.1 download should be passworded to stop people accidently downloading it onto a live site

I don't think it needs to be password protected. It should be left open so people can check it out. It clearly states right above the link to download that it is an unstable version.

I was thinking with a nice obvious password like "THIS IS A BETA VERSION - DONT USE ON A LIVE SITE"

The blurb about xoosphere gives a certain impression XOOPS version 2.2 exists. (Because it promises a backwards compatibility to it..)
For the untrained, like me, it might take a little while to understand..
