News 1.31 Problem

I'm currently using the news 1.31RC2 on 2.0.10, and I am having problems w/ the recent news block, as long as I keep the settings default it works fine, but as soon as I change something, like turn on spotlight, or add a teaser length the block disappears completely and I have to upgrade the module to get it to come back.

Is there any solution to this issue, yet. I looked in CVS as well as on the dev forums and didn't see any changes specifially noted that might address it. Any ideas?

I've tried everything I know to get it to work. Not sure what the issue is. I saw hervet's notes in the news item; apparently, he's tried it and it works for him. I've updated everything, unless I need to go and delete all the templates that were present before and generate new ones.

Very frustrating....
