Hello,

I am currently with Forc9 (sister of plus net)

For my £5 (GBP) per month, I get...
Unlimited mailboxes
PHP MySQL PERL...etc
Hosting for 3 domains
Don't remember how much dosk space but more than I need

All nice and reliable. Trouble is all the cgi-bin stuff has to be on one server whilst the main data needs to stay on another. Also, to work on the cgi side, I have to be connected via their dial-up rather than using my local cable company broadband service.

Anyone have any suggestions of a comparable package?

errrrr u could try valuehost

1&1 aren't bad, but their speed is pretty damn slow and u only get 1 MySQL database..

in essence i don't think there are any good UK hosts actually that are value for money..

best host i know of is surpasshosting.com

they are in the usa but they are very fast, very reliable, very cheap, excellent support, offer a hell of a lot and you won't be dissappointed with em..
i'm in the uk myself using dialup and my site that is hosted with them is exceedingly faster than the site i have just done using 1&1 which are in the uk.. also they are faster than valuehost which i used to host with too..

Thanks for that. They look good from what I can see.

If I sign up with them, will you get a payment for referring me? I see the sign up page asks for the id of a referrer so they must use it for something.

Let me know the ID and I will gladly use it if I go for them.

I would consider having CGI scripts on another server a benefit. They can draw huge resources and this may be the reason. Some hosts won't even allow CGI. If you don't need CGI a host without it can be a benefit, not a lost feature.

My own favourite is: http://www.3dpixelnet.com - and I know of a few fellow XOOPS users that use it :)
