So I think this forum is the newbb module

Mine seems to be the same address but mine looks more Xoops'ey. It doesn't have the small mail symbols and doesn't have things like "Search Forum" and "Topic Options".

Or is it's style, a theme.

Thanks, now all I have to do is get the update to work. I've tried several time and the forums get screwed up.

Even following the readme_first.txt file.
