AMS and the News module are able to be installed at the same time (I have AMS 2.41 and News 1.3 installed side by side on my test site). However I am not sure that all the other modules you mentioned are. You didn't have to hack any core files with these other modules did you?

Hi brash!
No, I didn't have to hack any core file with Newscategory, Altern8news or News2 modules. And there was no instruction in the module repository or in the readme files about installation at the same time or not with News 1.1

Upgrade your XOOPS core files minimum to version 2.0.9.2 or follow this thread in order to get the permission system in NEWS 1.3 to work -> click here

Thanks for your answer but my XOOPS version is 2.0.9.2 and I checked the bug that details the thread you linked and my file it's OK. That is not the problem...

ReySolar,

These modules that you have uninstalled, are there any rogue tables, or permissions left in your database from them? Check in phpmyadmin and see.

I used phpmyadmin but didn't find any rogue tables, or permissions left in the database from these uninstalled modules, or at least I didn't recognize them...
Any other idea?
But I think that I should delete all the site and make a fresh installation of XOOPS and the tested modules. I installed and uninstalled too many modules to test (some or them with uninstallation bugs) and it damaged core files or the database, I suppose...

from phpmyadmin, select all the tables and use the "repair" or "verify" function

Hi!
Thanks a lot for your preocupation, but that didn't worked. Using the phpmyadmin, with the verify function was all OK. So, I finally decided to delete the whole site. Now I'm installing XOOPS again, and then I'll install a fresh copy of News 1.3 and see.
