Ok, I'm considering XOOPS for a new website I'm starting. I've looked around the site and tried a demo on http://opensourcecms.com but can't figure out if the following features are available in Xoops.

1. Can a newly registered user submit news so that when an admin logs in, the system will tell them that a new story has been submitted and will allow them to edit and post either immediately or set to some future date to be posted automatically?

2. Can images be uploaded into articles and resized or otherwised edited at all?

3. Is XOOPS search engine friendly? Can google spider it without any problems?

4. What is the main editor like? Is it WYSIWYG?

5. Does the banner management module support flash banners or javascript banners?

6. Is the front page CSS based, or does it have to be 3 columns?

Thanks to any one that takes the time to reply to my questions!

Re: Feature Questions

1. The news module can do this (included in full package, an updated version 1.3 from Xoops Dev Forge has additional features)

2. No, not currently. It would be a good feature in the image manager, but is not there yet.

3. I have no problems getting my sites Google spidered

4. It is a DHTML editor like the one you used to write this topic

5. As far as I know, yes - I'm not a big banner's person

6. I don't really understand the question. What has CSS or not to do with three columns?
Anyway, there are five block placements that are positioned on the page via a theme (check the FAQ section for a definition of a theme) - that theme can use divs with CSS positioning, table layout or whatever the theme developer wants.

Yes, sometimes I want Google do it worse - when I saw 6-8 bots at site in parallel. No problems also with others, except MSNBots

Core editor is not WYSIWYG, but big part of modules can use added to system WYSIWYG-editor... News, forum, even Wikis - HTMLArea, Koivi, Spaw...

For showing content in XOOPS using some smarty-tags are mandatory, how you place it - inside table or div - is your choice - XOOPS themes have examples of using both methods
