I'm new at xoops. Is it possible that I can user SQL server database rather then MySQL?

Not without hacking, and I don't beleive there are any plans to support MS-SQL straight out of the box either. There have been a few guys trying to put together some hacks to get XOOPS to work with MS-SQL, but I have no idea where they are up to. Do a search and you should find some info. Be aware though that using hacks are not recommended for those new to this and that any support offered from these forums will be serverly limited.

i would recommend sticking with MySQL as there would be alot of recoding and module hacking to do, not to mention MySQL is far more superiour then MSSQL!
