Hi!

I’m trying to find a content administration module that has the ability to:
Priority 1. Can assign an article to multiple categories/topics
Priority 2. Nest categories/topics

I’ve done some searching in the forum, repository etc, but I have not been able to find this. (Perhaps I'm blind?)

As an alternative to #1, a system that allows for adding extra input fields to the article edit page, might also do the job.

Would appreciate any help

I'm looking for the same thing. I'm preparing a xoops-based website, and I'd like to categorize news in several ways, one of them geographically.

I was thinking of having the different locations be a topic, but of course that way I can't give it any other one. Cloning the topic part of the news and having topic2, topic3, etc (changing the name, of course) could be another option.

I've only been working with XOOPS for a couple of days, the only thing that looks a bit like it that I've managed to find is the Articles module from Sirium.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Whoooops, sorry, lazybadger, I misread the date and thought that those had some time

Anyway, in addition to Multiple topics & localization, our customer wants also to categorize using language, so I'm not sure if there exists a flexible enough module to do all that.

Guess in the end I'll have to build a new one over the standard news, problem is we don't exactly have a lot of time

Looks like ArMS is a bit buggy. With the 0.4 version that I got from xoops.org I had to retouch manually the SQL just to install the module, and now I can't add articles because it says that the description field is wrong (it looks ok to me).

I'm not sure ArMS is cooked enough to be used in a production server. If nobody has other options, I think I'll have to study the entrails of the news module and modify it for our purposes (/me crosses fingers)

Being able to list articles under multiple topics is a feature planned for AMS, but if you're wanting something soon (i.e next month or two) you'll probably have to sort something out yourself.

Well, at least I install it "from a box" and had only one problem with Sections Moderators (can add, can't remove without huge set of errors and problem)... And it works - for me and my humble needs - here

I'm afraid that we should be finished in two, three months maximum, so I'll have to try to adapt something useful, and at the same time be prepared to migrate to the new version of AMS.

I was thinking in the lines of creating an intermediate table between news and topics, changing "topicid=xxx" for "topicid in (xxxx, yyyy, zzzz)" in every query, and converting the topicid member in the news object in PHP into an array. Also, when editing news, the topic selection should be a combo with multiple selection.

Any other thing anyone thinks I should change?.

Thanks for your answers, everybody.
