I had really hoped to find some compassionate soul on these forums who might help out with my install problems. Having followed instructions found on all install forums, wiki and FAQ sections, my site still refuses to work. Still, no experienced users have bothered to respond to what I thought were perfectly reasonable postings:

https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=28806&forum=1&post_id=135666#forumpost135666

Open source this project is, but not exactly the most helpful community I've ever tried to join. Is anybody out there?

If I'm not mistaken, 2.0.9.2 does not come with any default modules installed, thus after you install the site, there will be nothing but your header, footer, and possibly a left menu block for you to log in as admin. To my knowledge, there has never been an install of XOOPS 2.x where there was actual content in the center (main) block of the site.

Perhaps you could provide us with either the URL of your site or at least a screenshot of the homepage.

I think your previous posts had been pushed off the XOOPS front page pretty quickly... you must have posted at a busy time

I know you've read the faq and such, but just to be certain...

Are the templates_c, cache and uploads folders chmod 777 ?

taken from the FAQ system requirements section >

Quote:

A web (www) server (Apache, IIS, Roxen, etc)

- MySQL Database 3.23.XX or 4.X.XX

Note: one user has reported a problem with MySQL 3.23.49a-MAX. You will likely have difficulties with this version.

this seems your reason.. you've upgraded php, but i think it maybe best to update your MySQL too..

If you are new to xoops, or even new to apache, php an all that and want to play arround with xoops, try first in local mode. There is a tool called XSAS. It installs Xoops, php, phpmyadmin, and php in local mode (an creates a virtual disk to run) If you like it then you can upload it.

getit here
http://xsas.sourceforge.net/

Note (installs version 2.0.7.3 the same I am using)
