linux ? IM security? can any1 advise?

i was talking to some friends today via kopete and gaim on linux O/S.. using MSN client

and they were using ms windows software....

their firewalls keep alerting them everytime i talk to them, with this alert:

can any1 offer any explanation of how to prevent this or is it just because i'm using a linux client and they're using MSN?

Seems like Microsoft isn't happy with you using MSN on Linux.

It is a worm (Bropia.A) whick is spreading over MSN (throught contacts in MSN) and that's why you have to have IM secured. Off course Linux doesn't have that problems and doesn't have a patch for it.

I think you can't do anything.

Hmm ... what Linux do you use and how do you run MSN ? Microsoft has released a patch that wants to see IM secured but Linux doesn't have it ...

Are you running MSN on windows emulator ?

Try to write on official site of your Linux and maybe they can do something ...

using mandrake 10.1 with KDE 3.2.3 & Kopete 0.8.4 IM client it supports MSN, yahoo, aim, irc, icq etc in 1 box with tabbed windows instead of havin multiple windows for each conv.. but No i'm not running on WINE or anything..

Hmm ... I was searching around a little. it sound like Kopete and MSN are having these problems only.

Try Gaim instead of Kopete. Many people don't have this problem since using Gaim.
