I was looking to add the function to allow users to track if a particular website is up or not. If not it would send an email notification. I saw a module on Metadot.com (another open source portal) but I don't want to switch as XOOPS has alot more functionality that I currently use.

Thanks in advance if you can point me to the right module.

I use a freeware tool called EyeOnSite to do this. I've created some scripts that e-mail me as soon as my websites fail to return responses to 5 polls in a row.

As for a specific module, I don't think one exists. You could probably do this with the NetQuery module, but still nothing you couldn't do with wget and a bit of scripting.

Thanks, I am sorry, I am a bit of a newbie to xoops. What is a wget? Also this is not related but I know that in XOOPS you can have external code within the page. Is it possible to use ColdFusion? Normally you have to have the .cfm extension in order to have the CFserver read the page.

Thanks again

Sinister, If the website is on your own server then you could use a small port monitor block. It monitors and displays

HTTP port=80 Open/closed
FTP port=21 Open/closed
MySql port=3306 Open/closed
POP3 port=110 Open/closed
SMTP port=25 Open/closed
SSH port=22 Open/closed

Get it hereHere

Its basic and simple, so dont expect any emails or notifications
