How can Private Messages be sent to all users by registered users?

Is there anyway a standard registered user can PM multiple users instead of just one selected from the drop down menu? I realise the webmaster (or anyone with Admin priv) can 'Mail Users' and just select the 'Registered Users' group, but my individual users cannot.

In my case, I'd like to set up a group called FCT, add my 8 registered Intranet users to it and then somehow I'd like them to be able to PM the entire group.

Any way to do this?

Ted, not sure how to do this one, but you could use a news letter module like evenews. This will send bulk emails, but not sure if you can select groups to receive or not.

Thanks for this Rich.

It says it 'extends XOOPS mailing options', and you have referred to 'e-mailing' in your reply. I specifically need it to be PMs as opposed to e-mailing because that is what our little Intranet works on the basis of (no e-mails but just PMs).

Without installing it, does anyone know if it (or any other module) has a PM groups or multiple users feature?

That's right Ted, I was expanding the concept, in case it might have been suitable as an alternative. I don't know of a mass PM function ATM. Anyway this is bumped up so there may be some other ideas from people.

Ted ,do you mean ability to send group pm?
with wanikoo hack all users can send group pm and admin can put a limit for that for example 3 pm per month.

Thanks guys, both of you. Yes irmtfan, I was referring to group PM's. I will try the hack mentioned on my personnal site at home first before trying it out here on my work site (it does not look as straight forward as a normal module so a little concerned I might mess something up!)

A slightly different version of the question.. I've been asked by users to be able to PM multiple users at once. Group PMs is a start but ad-hoc user selection is another.

When you are in your Inbox and select a number of messages you can Delete those messages but if you choose Send, those selections you made have no meaning, it is just the normal single user send routine. Might be nice if those selections could be used for a multi user PM. Selecting from the master list would be ok too but the more likely situation is that the user wants to send to a number of users he already has PMs from, easier to select them from the Inbox.

This had occured to me in relation to my personnal site, but not so much my work Intranet site (because theres only 8 of us that use it).

I wonder if it could be taken up as a suggestion for the next XOOPS release or something?

Hi Ted,

you should mention this thread to wanikoo. As in the thread linked above Herko asked his hack to be submitted to the patch tracker for possible integration into Xoops. (which in my opinion would be really great)
This might lead to faster integration than directly requesting this to core team as they might be quite busy.

At least doing both will increase your chances
