There seems to be no way of setting the wieght for sections therefore they allways appear at the bottom of the page.

Is there any way this can be given _some_ flexibility? or is there another module taht I could use that might even allow PHP code?

there is a lot of modules for section management ( and a lot *2 under developed )
it depends your requests and your needs.
a simple one is tiny content you can find all at module Repository ( in Community block at upper left corner)

Ideally at a minimum I'd like to be able to specify a wight so that the content doesn't appear under the huge number of custom blocks that appear below everything else on all other pages.

A bonus would be to be able to run PHP code snippits. Even better if they worked.

What you need to do, is change your block settings. Remove the blocks from appearing in the sections area, and voila, all articles will appear at the top.

center block will always appear at the top, unless you change this in the theme you are using.

I have no idea what you just said. I am in the newbie section still?

Hi, I'm matt and I'm from earth.

As far as I can tell custom blocks can belong to one or all pages. So unless we are in desperate need of a XOOPS 3.0...

This system looked like gold on the serfice but the faster and deeper I dig to compleate what I wanted to do (not very complex) the more idiosyncratic this thing seems to become.

I've tried checking out the site docs but I'm left with a profound sense that dispite appearences it is all in Hebrew or perhaps Latin...

I guess it must be me expecting like functions to be grouped togeather.

You can set a "block" to appear on how many pages you want to. When selecing the pages a block appears on hold the CTL button down, just like you would when selecting multiple files, and you can pick which pages each block will appear on, and then set the weight of each page.
