Well, I too might face a similar problem if I decide to switch. Probably will need to do some codes to perform the data conversion and migration.

Some problems I've identified:
- From what I've seen so far, newBB doesn't support Polls. Polls is a separate module, and so does that mean we gotta totally remove Polls?

- How to unencrypt the passwords for the members so as to migrate it over?

Is there a kwik and dirty way to transfer posts and related info for a very small amount of data.
The table of posts only contains around 40kb. I want to switch now before it becomes a huge pain...

from ipb, out to newbb2

all help welcomed..

You can use a module for Xoops2 called X-IPBM which is based on the original IPB. For me this module seems much greater than NewBB :). You can find X-IPBM module and converters at http://www.bbpixel.com .

as Predator said, the newbb2 developer hope they can make a converter script for both phpbb & ipb ready with the final which will be released on 14.11.04.

today should be the release of rc3...

I'm hoping someone does a converter that converts X-IPBM to newbb2

1. not necessary to lose polls, but would be much easier and less of a pain to convert if you can forget about polls ;)

2. both IPB and XOOPS use md5 password encryption, which is 1 way and can't be un-encrypted (well not easily anyway ;) ) but with them being md5, there is no need.. just copy the password field data across as it is..
