I am having problem installing a theme from the library...

I downloaded the file from this site, then in my control panel of my hosting system, I uploaded all of the files from the theme into a new folder that I placed under themes... It shows up in my XOOPS admin panel as a choice but when I select it and save, my home page is a mess, boxes with x's in them, nothing resembling a page. I'm sure I'm doing something basic wrong..

Help please.

Try to delete the templates_c directory and then upload new empty templates_c and CHMD it to 777.

check the permissions on the files you uploaded. The apache user (normally 'nobody') will need to read them. In most hosting environments this means that the world needs read access to the files (644 permissions). Directories will need Read + Execute permissions (755 permissions). If this is confusing to you, ask your host how to give your web server 'read' access on the files you uploaded.

How to CHMD?! It's different from server to server. Do you maybe have Smart FTP?

I checked permissions and they were at 644...

Do I have to do something to the template also or can I just work on the theme and it change the look of the site?

marshall - we can continue throwing out suggestions on how to fix, but I would recommend replying with a link to the site (if possible). Seeing the problem will help greatly.

The templates_c directory MUST be CHMD to 777!!!!
