Problem with News 1.21

I have several sites that run XOOPS with News 1.21. However, one site in particular is causing me grief and I cannot figure it out for the life of me.

When I create multiple topics in News 1.21 and submit stories, earlier topics disappear from the News index page. The stories show up in the side blocks and can be accessed from the block links, but the index page will drop one topic to show the one just created or to which a new story was just added.

I've tried reinstalling News 1.21 and even tried running it with all the other modules deactivated. Didn't help. I'm stumped and would appreciate some suggestions. Other modules running on the site include:

Evennews
Soapbox
Xcgal
NewBB (latest public release)
and the other standard XOOPS modules (the ones included with the core files).

there's a setting in the news module setup which changes the amount of articles displayed on the index page..

Not the problem. But here's what I've found. Maybe somebody can look into this who knows something about programming.

I created a brand new install of XOOPS and only installed the News 1.21 module. In "Classic" display mode, there are no problems. However, when I switch the news to display in "Topics" mode I cannot get it to display more than two topics at a time. It just keeps dropping an old topic to add a new topic.

Pretty strange and I have no clue what's causing it.

i haven't found this problem :S

i just created 5 test articles in the same category, selected topics view in admin and i see all 5 articles..

Alright, when I went to your test server I noticed that you did not have any topic images. So I went back to my site, deleted my topics, and recreated them without any images. Viola! Worked perfectly!

Next I added in images to the existing topics. Viola! No problems again. I might be crazy, but I'm wondering if it has something to do with the images. Before I was using a unique image for each topic I created. Now that I've dropped the images, it works fine. Adding the images in after the fact seems to be okay as well.

Weird, huh?

hmmm strange it could be..

i'll try later and on the other test site i'll create some topics with images and see if it does the same aswell..

maybe the devs could shed sum light on it also if they can..

Hello hervet ... all

I have more or less the same problem with news 1.2.1
Categories dissapere on me (php/mysql debug don't give anything about it).

It's not anything like not marking the "show in index page" or publishing date (I fight with it for 2 days now, b4 calling to help)

It acts as if there's a limit to categories in the "By topic" view ... and no "next page" or something ....

Since the FAQ you suggested is not there anymore, can you point the direction to go ?

Well, seems like a bug to me, though, no answere is needed, I upgraded to 1.3.1 and it was worth the effort, great is the word for it
