Hello forum,
Running php 5, iis (xp) trying to get xoop to install.

I have copied the html folder to the web root, renamed it xoops. in the address bar typed localhost/xoops. index.php was picked and then forwarded me to the installation steps. After selecting English as my default language, the web page is re displayed, select language.

Any one got any suggestions?

php 5 is not yet fully supported. You can get a beta release of 2.0.8 (some confusion on the version number aside) which has some php 5 fixes in place but is in serious need of testers. You can get a copy off the sourceforge site.

Otherwise, you will have to use php 4

PHP 5 is not a supported environment for XOOPS 2.0.7.3, we are working for PHP 5 support in the impending 2.0.9 release.

XOOPS is not fully PHP5 compatible yet.

My guess is that your webserver has an ini setting, disabling long superglobals ($HTTP_POST_VARS, $HTTP_GET_VARS etc.) which XOOPS 2.0.x uses.

I am curently switching to php4 to test this baby - very very curios...

And thank you all for responding so quickly - scary.
