www.xoops.org.cn is also a chinese support site. Babelfish couldn't recognise the langauge as chinese, but made something of it as japanese...

No idea what you are saying but it is in Japanese, I believe.

BTW: seems we have some problem with subject encoding. Thx for the bug report

I would love to be able to do this too.

I have an English language XOOPS site but need to display Japanese too, sorry if this is really easy but HOW do I change the encoding of the site so that like here (now anyway ) we can display Japanese...

OK now i'm confused, I typed the Japanese into my machine and it displayed in the input form fine but...upon posting, I got the question marks...
help...

daddystu,

you need to install the japanese language pack if you really want to do japanese. If you just want to occasionally have japanese on your site, you need to change the page encoding from english to a japanese encoding. This is found in the language/English/global.php file. Toward the bottom you can change the character set. For example I changed mine to: define('_CHARSET', 'EUC-JP');
