Everytime I try & activate a module Ive installed I get this:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home2/mjay/public_html/modules/freecontent/index.php on line 210

Any ideas anyone?

The unexpected t_string usually means missing semicolon i.e

echo "whatever" ;

I don't have freecontent but I would check out the line referred to in the error

I have uninstalled all the modules I uploaded & tried uploading them again checking I was doing it correctly. They are all visable in modules on the cpanel, along with all the pre-installed ones. When I open modules from within XOOPS I cant see the ones I uploaded. Im getting really fed up now what am I doing wrong?

If you use Php5, use the search on this site with the word php5

No I dont think im running php5.

I have managed to get some of them working. I am still having problems with the shoutbox - I can get it so it is visable on the site but anything you type in doesnt appear in the shoutbox window.

The gallery will install ok but when you click the icon it takes you to a blank screen.

The chatroom automatically kicks you out when you type something in.

These are all modules downloaded from this site so I imagine they are all suitable & are not corrupt.

well something's corrupt... I'd kill your XOOPS directory and try again from scratch.

I dont want to sound stupid but will that mean constructing the whole site gain - like my members having to rejoin & re-entering all the information again etc?

I have more webspace with a different host so I installed XOOPS on there, installed the modules that were giving me problems & the shoutbox worked fine. Unfortunatly I cannot use this webspace for my site because the disk space & bandwidth are tiny (its a free host), so the shoutbox module definatly works ok. This was the only module that did - chat & gallery still didnt work.

ok what you have there seems more like a coding error. Why its not been reported before am not sure.

Can you paste the code here so we can see it. and hightlight the line that the error points too.
