Hi,

In my testing of losing the password for log in and try to use the function of sending password to my email. Errors occur with follows statement:

Errors
Could not instantiate mail()

Any setting go wrong or miss? Any hints? Thanks in advance.

What operations system are you using?

What do you have your mail preferences set to in system admin -> preferences -> mail setup

I use Window XP and my web hosting use IIS and Window 2000.

My Mail Preference settings as follows:

From address:
From name:
From user: admin
Mail delivery method: PHP Mail()
Path to send mail: /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP host(s): mail.myhost.net
SMTP Auth username: webmaster@mysite.com
SMTP Auth Password: webmasterpassword

im also using the same setup, my mail pref's read the same. are we supposed to use something other than php? if we can use the php mail, is there anything extra we need? should this work from a clean install or not?

im not tring to bug, but i seriously have no idea if im supposed to change something/add something to use the php mail functions.. can someone please help? ;[ i dont like automaticly activating new users to my XOOPS powered site

Try using SMTPAuth if you are going to supply an SMTP authentication name and password. If you just want to use SMPT, then do not supply a username and password and just fill in mail.yourdaim.com. If you are running from local host, you can leave these blank and just use PHP Mail().
