James,

You did fine. I think any healthy forum needs a heavy from time to time. So tag your it! BTW - thank you.

I frequent a martial art site (not mine) that is pretty large.

My point being is a forum doesn't thrive or continue to be healthy without some guidance. I have seen the mods on that site catch hell for doing a their job. When you put hundreds of people together that see things from their point of view and allow free expression.... well sometimes it's like throwing gas on a fire.

You can browse martialtalk.com to understand what goes on at times.

If you snoop around you'll find the fingerprints of the mods all over, but the forum still grows. You'll also see being a mod isn't easy and you'll likely receive your fair share of getting bit when you do act.

Let me know if I can help. I don't have much free time at the moment, but maybe I can do the small things.

Re: Drupal

Maybe we should find out who would be willing to help with this, so we can have a head count and to say what time is spent on the board, so we can see that we have a good spread around the clock. I'm normally on and off the site between 09:00 and 18:00 GMT and would be willing to help out during those times.

Thanks. Kinda reminds me of a couple rules I once heard...

Rule #1: Don't sweat the small stuff.
Rule #2: It's all small stuff.

Back to the topic at hand...

I'm on the boards at different times throughout the day during the week. Some days more so than others. The weekends are when I'm on here the most.

Best Regards,

James
Insanity can be defined as "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Just to add, I'm here week days, not weekends. (normally)

And I think a private forum for moderator discussion would be a good idea, where mods can post about current issues that all mods should know about.

I sneak on at work when I can. Don't tell the boss!

Normally I'm home after 9pm mst. Before 9p I'm at the dojo beating up little kids or getting beat up.

A new version of CBB with trash/user management is being tested.
In the new CBB, moderators have distributed cpanel for batch topic/post management.

BTW: wouldn't it be better to change the title to "Xoops.org moderation proposal"?

Good idea indeed phppp - look forward to these improvements.

Re: Drupal

One thing that I don't think I saw meantioned. Is this just for the forum or for the comment system too? As I think that moderation is just as important for the comment system as well.

@phppp
Looking forward to the next version, that additions sound really good
