Thank you for this initiative. I think it will give the teams a lot more automony and responsibility, which is a good thing. I also appreciate that the team/group leaders and council members will be elected by their members. Of course, it also puts responsibility back on the community to get involved!

I think the general approach of setting up a drafting committee to make a more detailed proposal and putting the draft up for discussion by the community is a great idea. I support this approach and hope it will go ahead.

You can read an alternative proposal here.

Quote:

XOOPS Project Leader:
The XOOPS Core Development Leader will be the overall Project Leader. In this regard, the Project Leader is an ordinary member of the XOOPS Council.

This goes against everything this community has been asking that the core developer does not do.

You are violating the communities wishes with regards to this proposal.

I agree with catz, this is opposite to everything that the community asked for & wanted.

Quote:

The Foundation Team coordinator is appointed by the XOOPS Council and serves a one-year term inconsecutively. Candidates for the position of Foundation Treasurer are recommended by Foundation Coordinator and the final selection will be made by the XOOPS Council. Board members will be consist of, or be selected from the XOOPS Council members.

yes another sham.. nice conflict of interest arisen there.

the council controls the project? lol now the council controls the foundation too? these proposals just keep gettin worse and worse.. lol

does anybody ever listen, or do the people in charge only listen to their select pals.

i lkove a good joke, but this is feckin hilarious..

It is to easy to quote something out of context.
That's foolish. But lets play the game and resume the "quote"

XOOPS Teams
As a general principal team membership will be open to active members of the community, and teams will establish mechanisms to facilitate community participation and utilisation of community contributions.

XOOPS Groups
Team Leader assisted by a Coordinator elected from amongst the other Team Leaders in this group

XOOPS Foundation (the devil thing )
The Foundation will be managed by a Foundation Team directed by the XOOPS Council

Xoops Council is a XOOPS Group of XOOPS Teams Leaders which are active members of the community!

Sail,

Due to DJ's credit line at the end of his report I believe DJ is referring to the document you proposed.

This seems to me to be in line with what he is willing to accept or not accept according to community input and time restraints;

...the final outcome, of course, depending on Herko's timely favorable either/or unfavorable response.

As it stands now I believe, Herko decides who or what gets the Foundation 'arm and leg' of the 'body of xoops' if and when he moves on. (registered owner of a site pretty much controls the direction the site will take)

As positive as the report is for the community welfare, I believe DJ just passed the ball to Herko.

I could be wrong, I have been before...

BS

BTW: that was a lot of words to say, I don't think it is an "alternative" proposal, but a clairification of what he, DJ, believes the proposal should be.

So, community should hope that Herko set it free and pass the ball to the community !? Which will pass the ball to the council without elections ?

Funny game and nice shot !
