Hello,
My name is Jakob, and I am a senior at California State University, Monterey Bay. I hae began the epic task of a Senior project, and I have opted to do a project manager application. NetProject was originally going to be a standalone application until my advisor and I discussed the prospect of using an existing user management system. After looking through many variations of Nuke and Post-Nuke, we settled on XOOPS as the portal platform of choice. We saw a lot of potential in the platform and wanted to see what we could do.
NetProject is going to be a basic groupware module that integrates in (blocks, admin, etc). I've been studying documentation for a while now, especially the forum posts and Wiki information regarding module development. The project's completion date is 4/23, although I plan to continue development of the module well past the deadline. Here are the features to date in the project:
Group (or Groups) as project managers
- create projects, assign users to their projects
- basic timeline oritented view (Gantt Chart if time)
- Notifications for deadlines via PM, email, etc
- blocks for project view (at a glance), quick access to current projects, next deadline, etc
- projects public (all users can see them) or private (only project team can see it)
I am also open to any additional ideas that would be cool or great additions. I am shooting for the above list as far as the April deadline since this is the first time doing a major project using PHP classes and learning XOOPS as well as module development. Anyway, thank you for developing such a good platform, and the community here is awesome. A bit of time drilling through the forums can help answer many of the common questions.
