But I need a forum right now and the newbb is too weak to use.

Either do I, and there are few people here, if any at all, who have ported it over into xoops. The ability is here in the community, but the time and dedication it would take is rather large.

The easiest fix I found when I did try out the phppp for XOOPS version, was that after I installed it, I remember modifying the templates fro the phpbb so that it didn't mess up my XOOPS .css

It took a lot of work and experiementation. Hours of trial and error and most of which I can't even remember anymore.

I did the same thing with the IPB mod, but that was even more complex because it's theme system. My major gripe with both is the modifications to core file which broke my instalation when I uninstalled them.

Newbb is not yet mature enough and other systems still need work. So for me, the decision to go without forums is a painfull one. I'm still hopeing a suitble solution presents itself one day.

I wish I could help you out, but I lack the skills neccesary to port pnphpbb to the X system. My suggestion, although weak as it seems, is to wait for the X2.1 version. The roadmap for X2.2 is also in the works, so that only means that there will always be room for improvement.

I for one, am willing to wait it out.

Cheers

You won't be able to just use pnphpbb in xoops, you would have to modify it's behaviors and files, of which I am no where qualified to do.

Can you change PnPhpBB so that we can use it in Xoops?Quote:

You can download it herehttp://www.esxoops.com/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=9&min=70&orderby=titleA&show=10

I don't know if it works for XOOPS 2X though, haven't tried it.

You can also find alot of XOOPS modules at this site that you may not find anywhere else. Just make sure to browse the ones for XOOPS and not for E-Xoops.

I have tried it but that version can't use Xoops's themes, and changed too much Xoops's system files.PnPhpbb don't change any file of PN and it uses PN's themesQuote:

You can try Koudanshis mods for IPB for XOOPS and phpbb for XOOPS at www.bbpixel.com

I just tried going to the site, but it was unreachable for me. Might be a temporary DNS problem, hopefully.

I should caution you that both these modules modify files outside of the modules directory. Not that it's a major problem, but be prepared to replace those files if you should decide to remove one of these modules for any reason.

I should also note that a new version of newbb will be out in the new year, eta unknown.
