I'm not sure what you mean about making a change. I have added content and changed logos and fonts. So I guess, yes, I've made many changes to xoops. But why would those changes affect why I can't access my site from a different computer.

Any help is greatly appreciated because the laptop that I used to set this site up with is about to die! As it stands now, If this computer dies, I will not be able to administer my site.

Thanx

I have my site up and running well.

I have run up against one problem. I can only administer with the computer that I used to set my XOOPS site up with.

When I am on a different computer, I can log in but I can't acess the administration menu nor can I access other aspects of the site. From what I can tell, I have the permissions set properly.

I receive a message that says that I don't have permission to access. But on my "set up" computer, I have no problem.

Any suggestions?

I am using extcal for my calendar module. For some reason when I enter a new event to be posted on the calendar, the start time and the end time won't set properly. For example when I enter the start time of an event at 14:00pm the excal module will post the start time at 11 am. has anyone had this problem?

Thanx

Ok, I don't think I need a "welcome message per se. What I am trying to do is "alert" visitors of an important message. For example, the visitor gets to my site and they see a message that says "Home Owners Alert! Click here for details" I'd like the "here" to be clickable and take my visitor to the proper page on my site.
Whatcha think? Possible?

Is there a module that will allow me to post a welcome message on the front page of my website that will greet visitors everytime they visit the site?

Thanx for the help!

Here's the new error that I got when I changed the password:

Error: Smarty error: unable to write to $compile_dir '/templates_c'. Be sure $compile_dir is writable by the web server user.

What does this mean?

I had everything setup and working very well until I got caught in a blizzard in Lake Tahoe!

I somehow changed the database password through my hosting company. Now I get an error message that says "Unable to connect to database" because the MySQL password that I originally set up when installing XOOPS no longer matches the the new password that my hosting company automatically generated for me. I have no idea what that original password was nor does my hosting company.

How do I get back to the setup page in XOOPS so that I can change the database password I originally setup to the new password that my hosting company generated for me without loosing everything that I have entered onto my site?

I blame the blizzard for this but in actuality, I just pushed the wrong button!

Thanx
