"generic password"

The provider where I have my XOOPS site hosted (linux platform) offers the possibility to protect directories through a password to access to them.
I'd like to use this feature within my XOOPS site: I would like that a section of the site could be accessible only through this sort of "generic" password, thus not linked to a particular user, but accessible only to people knowing the password.

Could it be possible? If yes, how?

TIA
Antonello

Extcal is an interesting module.
What's bad is that a registered authorized user can add an event but can't edit or delete it, only the administrator can.

Is there an hack about this?

I found a link to: extcal-edit-event-hack.zip, but it is not active any more.

method n.4 - linux bash script.
with a problem:
echo "text-password" | md5sum -
returns a md5-hash different from the one I get in http://www.md5encryption.com
and I haven't found out why yet

method n.5: populate xoops_users with a temporary generic password and then make the user change the passwd on his first access to the site. Would it be possible to check this and send him a message on screen in the login box?

I'm looking for a way to populate XOOPS users database via a batch csv file.

I found the module esKuel
that could do the job.

The problem is the password. It must be encoded with md5. How could I generate passwords to be passed via a batch file?

static pages and home pages

I'm an absolute beginner, and I've been working with XOOPS for a few days now.
I found quite easy to understand the logic of modules, and in fact i've already decided which ones i'll put in my site.
This as long as forum, news, download, calendar are concerned.

I've problems with static contents.

How can I put text and images on the home page, in a static way (let's take the first centre block of XOOPS website as an example)?

Xoops website menu on the left has a "All about xoops" item pointing to the wfchannel module, and it opens a text page with links. I really couldn't manage doing this.

I've tried various static page modules but I've not found an answer yet.

TIA
Antonello
