the last thing i see is green lights and

Physical path is correct.
Virtual path is a valid URL.

then,
confirm database settings
(i know these are correct because i set up XOOPS before with the same settings)

then,
Connection to database server is OK.
Database exists and connectable.

then,
Failed creating database tables.

.........i'm lost................

i think i've broken it! i deleted all of the tables in the MySQL data base, then i deleted all of the files on my server, then i uploaded all of the files from my hard drive back to the server and started again. When i went through the install it brought up all of my old details which i thought was a bit strange but i continued with the install, i had green lights all the way until the end... now it says 'Failed creating database tables.' ... urgh ... any ideas anyone?

What was the last thing you changed? Did you add a module, change a theme or something else? Can you login to the admin area? What version of XOOPS are you using? Are you theming the admin area? A few more details will help us to help you better.

the software is just loaded, no modules, no theme... i've added nothing.

i'm using the latest version of xoops, just downloaded and i can login to the admin, everything else seems to work fine....
