Yeah i already do that . I mean i have to approve the registration. I just have to delete all of them when they arrive to my email.

I am afraid not to overflow my email and real users dont have the ability to register cause a month now i have no real user registration applys and i think it depends to this matter .

I will think about telling them your suggestion :)

You are absolutely right at every word you wrote.

I was asking , trying to find a temp solution cause the new site that will come is under construction from a webcompany so i don't want to bother them with an extra problem.

If the prob get bigger i will think again what to do :(

Your thoought is correct but till the new site is up i will lose with the spammers and the good users who trying to register.

Can i lock IP's of bad users or e-mails of them something ?

Hello Mamba . You remember right :)

I didn't upgrade cause wee were talking about update the total site and may use new modules etc.

So the case was frozzen and i never had same problem with spam .

It is a month now i face it :(

We have a site athttp://www.iek-01.com .
Recently we face a spam problem at the registration of new users process.
As I remember we had captcha installed but now I see there is no captcha there!
Anyway because we are on the transition to our upgrade portal I would like to face the problem till the new site is in air.

Can you show me a way to install captcha at the registration form (http://www.iek-01.com/register.php ) please ?

Had to make a backup file first right and download it local?

current DB you mean the db of my site or of my local new xoops?

I use the WAMPServer as you sad but i have queries and i am only at the beggining of your first replay:)

PS: Something else , early to ask cause i have so many things to arrange berofe that, but do you know a web site to buy a professional theme for the new version of my xoops?

The theme i have i bought it from xoopsdesign.com but now i don't see it to have new themes . Looks like inactive.

Oh here i am again after one year and maybe more from the last time i wrote :))

Well well, i want to upgrade my site from "2.0.18.2" to...the latest version .

This is the one , the biggest problem.

From the parent site i want to keep
1) the forum (everything as it is)
2) News.
3) Topics
4) Statistics
5) the members of course without to have to resign in .


How does this sound???

You are quite right it's an old version :)

It's been years since i mess up with xoops for a first time and i am getting older so my memory neads a refresh.

It seems a good idea to do everything locally first but..tell me something..

If i am correct i will need
1) the latest version of xoops of course
2) the content of my existing site (witch files exactly? all the site? )

Is there a guide to do so?


Do i have to setup again apachy and stuff like that locally again?

For the modules i think it comes second to this. I mean let's first see the upgrade issue and then i will check for modules (or am i wrong? )
