Hi!

I am a devoted user of Xoops, and I think that it is simply great to be able to use such a great portal system.

As a PC (open-minded) user, I am interested in the development of other OS's, such as Mac OS X 10.x.

I think that the efforts made by Apple in order to improve, simplify and present more clearly the infos / options / choices are an example, or can be a source of inspiration.

The Control Panel in Mac OS X 10.x is a model, included, I believe, for Xoops. XOOPS has so many options that I think a work in the improvement of the presentation could be done (a screen = 2 or 3 choices maximum).

Examples, screenshots :
(Temporarily unavailable at http://www.railheaddesign.com/ - "Various")

A "Apple Human Interface Guidelines" made by Apple could be read in order to see how they think their presentation should be :
- download the PDF HERE;
- or visit the online Guidelines HERE.

Of course, I don't say XOOPS control panel could be done exactly like Apple does its own. But the work and the values (clearness, simplification, etc) could be interesting to think about.

I am highly interested in your opinion about that.

Cheers,

Don.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I have tried to do the tip suggested by MithyT2, which works when I am in the Admin part (bloc edition), and I click on "View". The problem is that it does not work in the main page.

Then I have edited directly the template file. But it does not work.

Maybe I have forgotten to do something?

You can check: EDCA.

Thanks again and best regards,

Don.

Hi!

On the site I manage, EDCA, I'd like to make the bloc 'new members' to look the same as the others : the size is different, because the usernames are too long.

Is there a way to make that the usernames appear of a maximum of 8 or 9 letters, for example, in this specific bloc? How to modify the code with the good parameter?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

BD.

Hi!

I'd like to create a special menu for my XOOPS 2 website:
a sort of Apple / Mac OS X menu, at the top.

But how to design it? I already have drawn the images with Photoshop. Is there an existing code for this (javascript, or ...?)?

Or could you tell me what would be your suggestion, in order to do that, please?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Don.

Hi!

To be a bit more understandable, just look at this example, at Apple's website, the table on the middle of the page:

http://www.mac.com/1/iTour/tour_addressbook.html

Would it be possible to do the same for Xoops?
IE:
- one white row;
- one blue row;
- one white row;
- etc.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Don.

Sorry, Wingz, I don't understand what you mean.

Could you detail a little bit more your idea, please?

Thx!

Don.

Hi!

Just a little question about the website I'd like to create.

The basic look would be a permanent horizontal menu bar, at the top. Then the modules would appear under this menu bar.

The problem is that for a few modules:
- 2 columns would be the best (just like this site),
- but for other modules (like IPBoard forum) a single column would be better.

How is it to configure that? IE for the module X, 2 columns, and for the module Y a single column.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Don.
