Greetings, all,

I made the same mistake and ended up knocking my website offline for a few hours (it went back to the fresh install mode). Luckily I had a backup and managed to figure out that the missing mainfile.php was the cause of that. The problem is that once I got it back online and went to the admin area I found other glitches -- the mouse-over menus would pop up but wouldn't disappear when I moused over another button, causing the menus to overlap one another. To make matters worse, when I clicked on Preferences and chose to edit General Settings, the area beneath that link came up blank.

My gameplan was to copy my old files back onto the server, then step through the updates without deleting the wrong mainfile.php and folders on the server (I had to go from 2.0.14 to 2.0.18rc). The problem was that the server knew the upgrades had already been done so it wouldn't allow me to go through those steps again.

1) Has anyone had this problem with the admin area? If so, how did you fix it?

2) Is there any way to force the upgrade(s) to work to make sure all files and database updates were made correctly?

Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Quest, but I looked at that one already. It shows where to modify that segment of code to change the text.

Unfortunately, that's of no help because I don't need to change the text; technically it's not incorrect. The problem is that something is flagged somewhere, whether it's a cookie, cache or a record is temporarily locked in the database.

Greetings, all,

I've encountered a problem I've been trying to troubleshoot. If I log in then close out the browser without logging out or even try to log in from another machine I'll get the following error:

Incorrect Login![username]
_AUTH_MSG_AUTH_METHOD

If the page does not automatically reload, please click here

The logins and passwords are correct so I know that's not the case.

I'm wondering if there's a cache or a cookie I need to deactivate somewhere to enable me to log in (or in some cases re-login) without getting this error?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your input, however the option to tweak privs and permissions to that level is not available on my version of new bb (which was installed with my XOOPS config back in August).

Here's the info about the Forum that was installed:

Forum Version 1 -- Forums module for XOOPS

Author
Original admin section (phpBB 1.4.4)
by The phpBB Group
(http://www.phpbb.com/ )
Credits
Kazumi Ono (http://www.myweb.ne.jp/ )

Going to check to see if there's a later version but, again, this one does not allow for tweaking privs and permissions to that level; aside from anonymous reading, if you're a registered user and you can read a forum, you can post in it. I need the ability to disable that posting ability, regardless of group or permissions settings.

Any other ideas?

Greetings, all,

Currently I'm using XOOPS 2.0.14-rc1 to powerhttp://www.bgpublishing.com .

On my site I've got a forum "Design Samples" dedicated to showcasing some of my design work. I want to have it viewable by both registered and anonymous users but only webmaster/moderator status can post replies. I don't see how to do it with the current permissions and priviledges setup.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
