Have installed XOOPS 2.0.15 on Mediatemple.net on their gridserver. Seems all OK so far.
Have a look at their package. No, I do not get anything out of this.

Hello
Every time I try to install an RSS feed type plugin to Wordpress/Xpress I get "Cheatin' uh?" message appearing on the admin section where the feeds are supposed to be configured.
There are quite a few such W/P plugins and they all show this odd message.
Any ideas on this?
Best wishes.
John
PS Using new XOOPS 2.0.14 and new Xpress 2.4
PPS Have installed non-RSS plugins and this does not happen.

Wordpress comment errors on permalink change

Hello

I have a new install of Wordpress (Xpress) 2.04 on a new install of XOOPS 2.0.14 and everything seems fine.
However, when I change the 'permalinks' in the 'options' admin panel to 'Date and name based' and add the supplied code to the htaccess file, the ability to post comments changes from functional to getting an: Error 500 Internal Server Error page.

The error log at control panel shows nothing.

Any solutions or ideas gratefully received.

Many thanks.
John

Thanks for the reply Tcnet.
However, I would suggest that the discussions at the thread you linked to are not quite the same.
These seem to refer to glossary terms and definitions and wiki style links.
The use of the linking methods which I described are somewhat different and possibly more useful to people than either of the above.
Many thanks.

Linkwords, Hotwords

Firstly, many thanks to all involved with Xoops. As a new user, I can only say how brilliant it is.

The only thing I cannot see which I have found useful on other CMS, is a type of global keyword-to-link utility, where admins can specify a word which will automatically become a link to an internal or external page every time the word appears in a document.

e107 (http://e107.org) has linkwords and tikiwiki (http://tikiwiki.org) has hotwords which do this globally. There is something similar in the XFArticle module, but obviously this only covers items within that module.

Whether this is easy or not to do I cannot say, but I would find it useful and perhaps others would do so, too.

Again, many thanks for all the fine work.

Best wishes.
John

Slight Mediawiki module problems

Hello
Have installed Mediawiki 1.67 on new XOOPS 2.14 install and get:-

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/okwowco/public_html/ok/modules/mediawiki/LocalSettings.php on line 81

when trying to make new test account, although the a/c did set up after using refresh and back button a lot. Also, although Mediawiki had been set up to give user view option of XOOPS or Mediawiki style, this did not happen for new user.

The above is on a hand install, but on a Fantastico install, the Mediawiki link would not work at all on admin menu.

This all on Linux Apache 1.3.37 (Unix) PHP 4.4.2 MySQL 4.1.19-standard.

Hope this makes sense.
Many thanks.

Hello
Many thanks to everyone for brilliant Xoops! Just started with it and very impressed.
However, I have tried the Mediawiki module China download and the zip file cannot be opened either on local computer or extracted at the server. It is somehow corrupted, I think. The download is much too fast for what I guess is a large-ish file.
If anyone can help with another download site or something I would be very grateful.
Mediawiki and XOOPS together seems to be EXACTLY what I was looking for.
Many thanks.
John
