yea it kinda sucks that the XOOPS banner thing doesnt have a special code for the site url like how the theme has that <{$xoops_url}> smarty variable. but there are other banner modules that you could try. i could only find
PhpAddsNew. in the repository. and i found this link to the it-hq site. Implementing PhpAdsNew into your XOOPS site
but they probably wont solve that whole banner problem (that you dont have to change every single path to the banner when you change the domains.). maybe there is a hack for the XOOPS banner system or something. or a module i dont know about.

so you agree that adding an image with the root url doesnt work on xoops, but thats the way it should be?

about that <xoops_url$> thing , im not wrinting it right but i tried to add that with the image source in theme.html file and it made images appear right on all pages, but thats weird,

i just switched the theme to default and the problem is still there so it has nothing to do with the them so now i start over, then answer that:

the installation of XOOPS is perfectly new, and i entered full url but the image of banner dont show up, then i enter only the root url, and it shows only on first page.

you understand something in that?

if it is the wrong way, then why do the second option, the one i use since 2 years, and the on i just used for the banner, make the banner appears.

THE PROBLEM IS NOT THERE

READ PLZ, I BEG YOU READ THIS cuz you didnt read my last post:

on the HOME PAGE it work, when i get to other pages it adds: module/news for example between the mysite.com and the images/banners/banner.jpg.

and it is not supposed to.

its supposed to show me modules/news/images/banners/image.jpg only if thats why i entered that in the banner admin.

now it doesnt work like im saying its supposed to.

but obviously, something is wrong with A: the version of XOOPS B: the theme that i installed or C: XOOPS as flaws

I never said i refused to believe you, in fact writing a full url will work, no doubt.

The problem is, im repeating myself for like the fourth time, when you move the website on another server, you have to change all grpahics url where you have entered a full url, and that is not supposed to be.

Not every webmaster can work the website directly in the server and with the url of the final destination.

i dont host website, so i gotta build wesbites in subfolders of mine, then ship it to the client.

And wut i said, is that the real way to build a website is to have urls to the root, except when you have ot use an external object, like a logo from an another online website for example.

Youre telling me you built all those sites, all those 2000 or i dont know sites, and all of them have full urls???????

Your not supposed to, the explain why it inst working Mr.Expert? Explain why XOOPS inserts the default banners into the database using the FULL URL!

Why you always brag about how much site you did and why don't you just answer wut im saying, you arent even reading what im writing and by the way you have 196 post and i have 16 and i just joined 30 minutes ago.

i dont see 5456465. and stop talkin me about how much site you got because thats just stupid.

just go back from start and read every post, READ, you know what is READ?
Stop writing anything, stop saying your expert, and dont say to me MR.EXPERT, cuz i never said i was, in fact i said THREE TIMES that i was not a pro and not a beginner, so where did you see i said i was expert?

Just going to have to wait for another person to tell you the same #OOPS# thing. Im done wasting my time on this. U said you done alot of sites with frontpage etc etc, XOOPS is a CMS engine, not a static HTML site, things are diffrent.

more you talk more you prove your dumb, and you dont read any of my post at all you just say whatever and you dont read.

I SAID ON MY FIRST POST that i built website with oscommerce, cubecart and other softwares like that, mambo, etcetc.

are these html???? i dont think so.

i only said about html, that it was the most basic thing and even with that you dont enter full urls if the target object is a part of your website and not an external object.

wheter you build a website in html, in flash, in php, asp or any langugage you want, YOURE NOT SUPPOSED TO ENTER FULL URLS, you only enter the ROOT URL.

entering the full url is something newbies only does, and every good programmer will tell you not to do it IN CASE U MOVE THE WEBSITE ON ANOTHER LOCATION.

The only file you are supposed to edit when you transfer the website is the config.php file, in this case, in XOOPS its called mainfile.php.

you only have to change the virtual url and the absolute url path, database name, password and username in those files.

But if all urls of the websites are full you will also have to edit all these files.

THATS WHY YOU SHOULD NOT WRITE THEM FULL

Hundreds of XOOPS users use the XOOPS banner admin with no compliants, I think you need to quit your job, and move on. This is simple, you want a banner, banner admin isnt for bullets and #OOPS#, its for site banners. U need to add the full URL to get the image to display. I have no idea WTF you are doing.

i just said i didnt used the admin to enter a bullet.

and i just said too that i tried to enter the full path to the banner and it was even worse.

Your not doing something right then, i own countless domains powered by xoops, the banner administrator was a no brainer and works like a charm, on my domain and for banners not stored on my domain. Check your path again.

thats wut i said!

i worked lot of sites and i never saw that, and i verified all basuic stuff, im not a newbie. i said it in my FIRST post, im not pro but im not begginer.

and wut do im not doing right as the install of XOOPS is almost new, i just foloowed installation that run 100% well from start to end, i didnt altered any files except that i installed a theme from 7dana, but why do the banner from Xoops, the one that come from installation was showing on everypage but not mine, but XOOPS banner had the root url, like i input for mine!!!!

1) why are you adding bullets etc etc for menu items to the banner admin, are you sure you know what the banner administrator is for??

2) IMAGE IN THE BANNER ADMIN MUST HAVE THE FULL URL TO THE BANNER.

3) YES THE IMAGES ARE COMING UP WRONG BE CAUSE YOU ARE USING IMAGES/PATH/THEIMAGE.JPG AND XOOPS IS ADDINGHTTP://WWW.SITENAME.COM/MODULES/WHATEVER_MODULE_YOU_ARE_VIEWING/IMAGES/PATH/THEIMAGE.JPG.

4) If you have to change that many images, and there URLs you need to rethink your approach.

5) Dont add client banners until you get the domain to them.

6) Yea im a Pro, dont have to come to XOOPS forums about a simple HTML question. Ive learned not to XOOPS installations on anything other then the clients domain. Too much crap to have to change to get it going again.

God #OOPS# you didnt read my last post at all!

I am not adding bullet by the banner admin, where do i said i did that?

I only said i added bullet to menu but i dindt used the banner admin to do that WTF!!!

god im not stupid!

i entered them via the theme.html file of course.

and forget about the banenr forget about the client ok?

because banner is only one element of the website and i dont need it to desighn it.

what about all other graphic elements of the website?
what about the design i need to wait the website to be in another server before entering urls?

am i supposed to just imagine what the result of the website will be???????? and guess that it will be correct?

i have to do it right away, i have to design it and see results now, and transfer the webstie once everything is good and working!!!

WTF!

WHAT ABOUT THIS:

3) YES THE IMAGES ARE COMING UP WRONG BE CAUSE YOU ARE USING IMAGES/PATH/THEIMAGE.JPG AND XOOPS IS ADDINGHTTP://WWW.SITENAME.COM/MODULES/WHATEVER_MODULE_YOU_ARE_VIEWING/IMAGES/PATH/THEIMAGE.JPG.

you wrote this.

what the fok about ''IMAGES/PATH/THEIMAGE.JPG'' do i said that???

do i said i entered the path of my website between images and THE image ?????

god why would i do that?

and i need to rethink my apporach???

how do YOU design a website, you just tell to the image to appear on the menu?

i gotta physically put it there somewhere!!!!

Example: i upload the bullet to the folder of the them where the theme bullet is AND WORK on every page.

i just reaplce the bullet by mine AND THEY R SAME SIZE (20X20 pixels for eqxample)

but then, my image doesnt appear on others page!!!!!
